Landscapes
Barton Dam Area
These pictures were taken right by the Barton dam. The first one was taken on the bridge close to the dam, and the second picture was taken on a path near the bridge. In the first picture, I think I captured the dullness and dreariness of winter by showing the dark landscape. If the river was frozen, then I think I could have better captured the emotion of winter. In the second picture, I captured a more positive look of winter, with some color shining through.

Grass Hill
These pictures were taken by Grass Hill, which is near the Barton Dam (I'm not sure if Grass Hill is the official name of the place, but my cross country calls a route through there Grass Hill). The first picture is of a small plant that was on the side of a path I was on, and I liked how it looked. The second picture is of the Huron river, and I took this picture because of the two swans in it. I think a triumph of Surviving the Winter was the focus on the plant itself. A triumph of Two Swans was actually being there at the right time to get a picture of the swans.

Botanical Gardens
These pictures were taken at the Matthei Botanical Gardens, and I went here because I thought it would be a good contrast to everything else I was taking pictures of, and because it was never specified that the nature had to be outside. Close Cactus is a close-up picture of a cactus. Sea of Leaves is a picture of a plant that had a lot of small leaves. I took the picture of the cactus because of the visible texture of it. I took the second picture because I really liked the rhythm of the leaves.

Top of the Arb
These pictures were taken at the top of the Arboretum. White Trees is a collection of snow-covered trees at the top of the Arb. Treetops is a view of Ann Arbor from the top of the Arb. I took the first picture because I liked the look of the snow on the branches. The second picture was cropped like that to focus on the trees.

Bottom of the Arb
These pictures were taken at the bottom of the Arboretum. Straight Up is a view of trees from below on the ground. Snow Bush is a picture of a bush on the side of the path covered in snow. I took Straight Up because I liked the perspective of it. I took Snow Bush because I liked how some of the plant part of the bush wasn't covered by snow.
